About Me and What Shapes My Work?

My journey into psychology began during my senior year of high school, when a psychology elective sparked a deep curiosity about human behavior. I became fascinated by the ways our experiences shape how we think, feel, and relate to one another, and by how greater self-awareness can help us build more meaningful relationships. That curiosity has continued to shape my work and my belief that understanding ourselves and our relationships can be an important part of creating a more fulfilling life.

As a first-generation child born in the United States to immigrant parents from a collectivist culture, I grew up navigating different perspectives on family, relationships, and mental health. Mental health was not something that was openly prioritized in my upbringing, and therapy was often not viewed as an option. These experiences shaped my appreciation for the importance of making mental health feel accessible, relevant, and meaningful, particularly for people who may be navigating cultural differences or questioning whether therapy is “for them.”

These experiences have ultimately shaped the way I approach therapy. I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling understood and having a space where you can be honest about your experiences without judgment. My work is grounded in connection, curiosity, and compassion, with an emphasis on helping clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping them from living in alignment with what matters most to them. I see therapy as a collaborative process of exploring, processing, and making sense of your experiences so that you can move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Specialization and Approach

I work with individuals and couples who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that may be keeping them feeling stuck. This may include navigating dating and online dating, building or maintaining long-term relationships, or working through relationship transitions and challenges. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from developing a deeper understanding of our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and relationships, while also learning practical ways to respond differently. I strive to balance insight with action, helping clients not only understand why they may be experiencing something, but also develop the tools to create meaningful change and move toward a life and relationships that feel more fulfilling.

I draw from several evidence-based approaches and tailor my work to each client’s needs and goals:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): to develop greater psychological flexibility, make space for difficult thoughts and emotions, and identify the values that can guide you toward a more meaningful life.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): to explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and develop more helpful ways of responding to challenges.

  • Attachment-based therapy: to understand how your early experiences and relationships have shaped the ways you connect with yourself and others, and to recognize patterns that may be showing up in your relationships today.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): to explore the different parts of yourself that may have developed to protect you, better understand their intentions, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT): to understand the emotional and attachment patterns that shape relationships and help couples move out of recurring cycles toward greater security and connection.

  • Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2): to strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and build the skills and relational foundations that support healthy, lasting relationships.

Training Credentials and Clinical Work

I hold a Ph.D. and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University and am a Licensed Psychologist in Colorado (PSY.0006950).

I have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and the Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2). My academic work has focused on attachment and navigating relationships within academic settings, which has continued to inform my clinical work with individuals and couples.

In addition to my clinical work, I provide supervision to early-career therapists. This role allows me to support the development of other clinicians while continuing to engage with evolving perspectives and approaches within the field.

Who I Work Best With

I tend to work best with clients who are:

  • Navigating dating or online dating and wanting to better understand what they’re looking for in a relationship

  • Noticing patterns in their relationships and wanting to understand where those patterns come from and how to change them

  • Feeling stuck in a relationship or struggling with conflict, communication, intimacy, or disconnection

  • Wanting to develop deeper intimacy, vulnerability, and connection in their relationships

  • Moving through a breakup or other relationship transition and wanting to process the experience and move forward with greater self-understanding

  • Neurodivergent clients who want a space where their experiences are understood and explored without judgment

  • Figuring out what is most important to them and wanting to better understand their values, needs, and priorities

  • Wanting to better understand themselves, their emotions, and their relationships so they can create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling

What Therapy Looks Like

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both insight and action. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and the patterns that may be shaping how you navigate life today. My goal is for you to feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood while having the space to be curious about yourself and consider new ways of responding. I also believe therapy can include moments of humor and lightness when they feel natural, while still making space for the difficult parts of the work.

Throughout our work, we’ll explore what matters most to you and how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors may be helping or getting in the way of living in alignment with your values. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of yourself and greater confidence in your ability to navigate challenges, make intentional choices, and create the relationships and life you want.
