Dr. Kasey Odell

Hi, I’m Dr. Kasey Odell—licensed psychologist, lifelong people-watcher, and someone who’s been asking “why do people do what they do?” since high school. While other kids were figuring out their locker combos, I was trying to figure out human behavior, family dynamics, and how early experiences shape us into the wonderfully complicated adults we become. That curiosity has stayed with me ever since.

I started my formal training with a psychology degree and a sociology minor from Arizona State University (go Sun Devils!), then packed up and moved to Colorado to earn my master’s in forensic psychology. I liked it so much I stayed for my doctorate, which I completed at the University of Denver in 2015.

For the past ten years, I’ve worked in correctional settings, providing care to people who are often unseen or misunderstood—those navigating severe mental illness, trauma, or the added weight of being part of marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals. I’ve worked with both victims and offenders, and I never stop being amazed by the strength and resilience people hold, even in the darkest places.

My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to be met with compassion and dignity. I care deeply about diversity, equity, and creating spaces where people feel truly seen and heard. I also love mentoring and supervising early-career clinicians—helping them find their voice, grow their skills and develop confidence, especially in complex systems.

These days, I’m shifting toward work that’s more in line with who I am at my core: authentic, relationship oriented, and human. I want to be in spaces where people can show up as their full selves—messy, resilient, healing, growing—and where I can do the same. I believe healing happens in safe, inclusive, and compassionate environments, and that’s the kind of space I strive to create in my work every day. If you're looking for someone who blends clinical skill with heart, humor, and a healthy dose of realness, we might just get along.
