Karina Ernst, MA
My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. I’ve lived through trauma and hardship and know firsthand how isolating and overwhelming it can feel. Therapy unlocked a door I didn’t know existed, which led to healing, self-understanding, and relief I’d never thought to be obtainable. That experience is why I do this work. I have the privilege of helping others navigate difficult terrain to find and unlock their own invisible doors, leading to endless possibilities. I aim to create a space where all parts of you are met with compassion, curiosity, and care.
I am originally from Colorado and received a master’s degree in Performance Psychology in 2024. I quickly found that concepts and challenges that arose for my clients in this work transcended the performance setting and stem from deep within a person and affect all aspects of life. This desire to work with the whole person led to my current pursuit of a doctorate in clinical psychology. My background is primarily in working with anxiety, depression, and neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ populations. Presently I work with individuals, couples, and people in diverse relationships to navigate intimacy, sexuality, identity, and the lasting impacts of trauma.
I would describe my therapeutic style as open, flexible, humorous, and creative. I tailor the therapeutic environment to each client, as we are all unique beings. My clinical foundation is trauma-informed, meaning that I consider how past experiences shape the way we connect, communicate, and experience pleasure. Healing this area takes patience and tenderness and requires a space where your whole self feels welcome. Letting your authentic light shine is the ultimate goal.
